Six PhilaU Student-Athletes Win CACC Accolades

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University baseball senior shortstop Tyler Mentzer (Gettysburg, PA/ Delone Catholic HS) has earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) ‘Player of the Week’ honor this week, as announced by the conference today.

Mentzer hit .625 in four games with two home runs, seven runs scored, six RBIs, two doubles and four stolen bases.  The Rams standout went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs and a homer in a win over Wilmington and 2-for-3 with one run, one RBI and three stolen bases in a victory against Concordia.

Other PhilaU athletes earned CACC Honorable Mention: baseball freshman pitcher Russell Trojan (Springfield, PA/Cardinal O'Hara), softball sophomore catcher Katie Renner (Berryville, VA/Brunswick), men’s tennis sophomore Manoli Sgouros (Forest Hills, NY/Holy Cross) and freshman Kyle Burke (Wakefield, RI/South Kingston).

Lacrosse senior midfielder Kathleen Maurer (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) also took home an honorable mention nod.
