PhilaU Officially Receives CACC Alfred R. Restaino Cup

Philadelphia, PA- The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) handed over the women's Alfred R. Restaino Cup to Philadelphia University Athletic Director Tom Shirley at a conference athletic director's meeting last week.

"The annual tradition of winning the Restaino Cup is always competitive and we are honored to receive it," said Shirley.  "It was quite a year for our women, who captured four championships. Additionally, the volleyball and women's soccer teams reached their respective CACC Championship," he said.

The Restaino Cup is a rotating trophy, awarded to the men's and women's program that performs the best across the board in CACC regular-season and post-season play in conference sponsored sports.

This is the second time the Lady Rams have won the Cup since joining the CACC in 2005, the other time being the 2006-07 academic year.

The award is named after Alfred R. Restaino, Sr., who served the CACC for over 34 years as an athletic administrator and coach. Prior to that, he distinguished himself as a student-athlete at CACC-member Bloomfield College. His dedication and vision helped to forge the CACC as it is today.
