NEW HAVEN, Conn. (February 17, 2011) – The 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament Awards Banquet will be held at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, announced Commissioner Dan Mara. The event will be held in the Diamond Club, located behind home plate in the heart of the ballpark, on Thursday night, March 3.
“This year's pre-tournament banquet is being held at Citizen Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies,” said tournament host and Director of Athletics at Holy Family University, Sandy Michael. “It is my plan to ensure that every effort is taken to make this the best student-athlete experience. The entire atmosphere will be positive, respectful, and professional. Each year the CACC tries to enhance our championships and this will be Holy Family University’s contribution for all of the teams involved in the championship tournament.”
“The opportunity to have the basketball awards banquet at Citizens Bank Park will provide a great experience for the student-athletes of the CACC,” said Mara. “It’s a credit to the staff at Holy Family University for acquiring the facility and we look forward to it being another step forward for our conference tournaments.”
Holy Family will host the semi-final and championship rounds of the CACC Tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5.
The Philadelphia Phillies website features the following preview of the Diamond Club and the experience at Citizens Bank Park.
“Your event begins at the Suite & Club Entrance at Home Plate - a vibrant foyer decorated with an award-winning terrazzo floor depicting 31 favorite Phillies players. Then it's on to the elegant Diamond Club, where the contemporary, larger-than-life art murals created by Philadelphia artist Dane Tilghman line the hall and colorful inlaid tile and leather banquettes are framed in beautiful blond oak.
The surprises keep coming at the "overlook", a unique sneak peek at the Phillies' and visitors' indoor batting cages. Then stroll onto the deck overlooking the Diamond Club seats to experience a view of the ballpark that is nothing short of spectacular.
The Diamond Club is spacious, fun and upbeat. The Diamond Club's high-tech video display with plasma screen televisions and state-of-the-art sound system make any presentation a winner.”
