Homecoming 2010 This Saturday (10/2)

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University will welcome back alumni to Homecoming 2010 this Saturday, October 10th for the men’s and women’s soccer games (12/2:30 p.m.) at Ravenhill Field.  Former athletes are also invited to the Alumni Athletes Happy Hour, to be held at the Manayunk Brewing Company (4120 Main St., Manayunk, PA 19127).

The day is packed with other events, including women’s volleyball and women’s tennis home contests at 12 p.m.  Other events are listed below:

Saturday, October 2, 2010:

  • Family Day Brunch -  11 a.m.
    Location: Ravenhill Dining Room
    Join us for a lovely brunch being served in the Ravenhill Dining Hall. Reservations for brunch are required.   Please note that students with a meal plan do not need to be included in your registration.
    $10 // AT THE DOOR: $15
  • Reunion 2011 Planning Meeting - 11 a.m.
    Location: Ravenhill Mansion
    Reunion 2011 is May 13-15, 2011.  Help us make your reunion memorable! Members of the classes ending in “1s” and “6s” interested in helping bring their classmates together for reunion 2011 are invited to attend. Breakfast treats and coffee provided.
  • Undergraduate Information Session -  11 a.m.
    Location: White Corners
    Alumni, parents, friends and their college-bound children are welcome to attend this information session and receive a free voucher that waives the application fee! This program provides information about the University’s admission and financial aid processes, academic programs, student life, residence life and commuter information, and internship and study-abroad opportunities.
  • Campus Tours - 11 a.m. / 11:30 a.m.
    Location: Departs from outside Gallagher Athletic Center
    Haven’t been back in awhile or just interested in seeing how PhilaU is changing? Let our student Rambassadors show you around. They’ll give you the inside scoop on the lore and latest happenings at PhilaU! 
  • Homecoming/Family Weekend Tailgate & Spirit Fair - 12 p.m.
    Location: Adjacent to Ravenhill Field

Join us for a mouth-watering BBQ picnic, unforgettable Chubby’s cheesesteaks, music, street performers, and activities for all ages, all while cheering the Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams to victory! Food runs until 3 p.m., Spirit Fair activities continues until 4 p.m.  New for 2010 -- Quizzo under the tent at 2 p.m.  Bring your team or join one when you get here!

PRE-REGISTRATION: $15 for adults / Free for children (12 and under)

AT THE DOOR: $20 for adults / $5 children (12 and under)

  • Soccer Game Lower "Tailgating" Lot -
    Location: Lower parking lot, adjacent to Ravenhill Field
    Planning to tailgate for the soccer game?  Due to the increased popularity of the tailgating lot, new for 2010 - reserve your space today!  $10 per vehicle.  Food and coolers allowed.  All entering the lot will be carded - 21 and older only.  Please note: This is only for the designated "tailgating" lot.  Parking for general event attendees is free.

         Alpha Lambda Delta Induction Ceremony - 4 p.m.
         Location: Kanbar Performance Space
         Induction Ceremony for PhilaU’s new Honor Society (By Invitation Only).

  • Athlete Alumni Happy Hour - 5:30 p.m.
    Location: Manayunk Brewery, 4120 Main Street, Manayunk, PA 19127
    Alumni of all athletic teams are invited to Manayunk Brewery for a special All-Sports Happy Hour following the on-campus Homecoming festivities.
    Cost: $10
    , includes appetizers and a drink ticket (Cash bar following) 
  • The Magic of Christopher Carter - 7:30 p.m.
    Location: Kanbar Campus Center, Performance Space
    Theater of Thoughts is a show that proves to audiences why Christopher Carter is recognized as one of the world’s most skilled, creative and original thought readers when he performs astounding feats of mind reading and mind control. Witness him identifying serial numbers on currency in audience member’s wallets even though his eyes are duct taped closed! Be there when he causes a light bulb to explode with only his thoughts! Check in for all the day’s events will begin at 11 a.m. at the Tailgate tent on the Ravenhill
Campus. Tickets for the Brunch, Tailgate and all evening activities will be distributed at
this time. Walk-in registration will also occur here.
