Philadelphia. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) Rams hosted the Special Olympics Pennsylvania as they held its third annual Elementary/Middle School IUS Bocce Championship this past Tuesday, January 8th. This was the 2nd year that the Rams hosted the championship.
Fifteen teams from three elementary schools and five middle schools participated in the championship. The schools that were represented were Andrew Hamilton, Hill-Freedman World Academy, Juniata Park Academy, Middle Years Alternative school (MYA), and the Penrose School.
Members of the Baseball and Women’s Soccer teams volunteered for the event. They set up the bocce ball courts, officiated the matches, cheered on the participants and most importantly helped hand out medals at the end of the event.
