Jefferson Alumnus Smith Selected To Team USA For the 2019 Pan American Games

PHILADELPHIA – Former Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) rower Logan Smith has been named to Team USA for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

The rowing competition at the Pan American Games is August 6-10. Smith will compete as a member of Team USA's Men's Pair and Men's Eight.

Smith competed for the Rams at then-Philadelphia University from 2008-12. He was a member of the Men's Varsity Four for four consecutive years. Smith helped his boat make the Grand Final at the Dad Vail Regatta all four years. In 2010, his boat went undefeated in the regular season and placed second at the Dad Vail Regatta.

In the fall of 2010, the Varsity Four competed at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta and placed third out of 50 crews, earning the University's first Head of the Charles medal. Smith holds the University record for 2000-meter erg score with a 6:09. He pulled the score in April 2012. Smith was honored as the MVP of the men's team in both his junior and senior years.

Smith graduated in 2012 with a degree in health sciences. He went on to earn his master's degree at the University in physician assistant studies in 2014.
