Assistant Coach Erin Donahue places third at US Championships

Philadelphia University Assistant Cross Country Coach Erin Donohue finished third in the women's 1500m final at the 2007 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, June 23rd, in Indianapolis.  Running professionally for Nike, the 4:08.22 bronze-medal time earned Donohue a berth on the U.S. team that will compete at the IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan from Aug. 25 to Sept. 2.

Fellow Nike competitors Treniere Clement (4:07.04) and Christin Wurth (4:07.86) finished one-two, respectively, and join Donohue in representing the United States abroad later this summer.  A product of the University of North Carolina and Haddonfield (N.J.) High School, Donahue returns this fall to guide the runners of the Rams and Lady Rams in her second season under head coach Dave Thomas.

Regarding Donohue's run in Indianapolis, Coach Thomas said, “She was in position to win with 200m to go, and finished off a gutsy performance in a terrific race. Her efforts are on a grand, national scale and we are honored to have someone of this caliber be associated with Philadelphia University.”

Upon arriving home from Japan, Coach Donohue will prepare the University's cross country teams for their first officially-scored event of the season on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the New York University Invitational.
