West Chester, PA- Philadelphia University
junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/
Hatboro-Horsham) scored 30 points and pulled down nine rebounds,
but her effort would not be enough as the Lady Rams (1-1) fell
69-60 to the West Chester University Rams (3-1) on Saturday
afternoon.
The Lady Rams held their biggest lead of the game 33-24 with
under five minutes remaining in the first half as senior Amanda
Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) nailed a
three-pointer. Brennan finished with eight points and five
boards on the night.
PhilaU held a slim 35-32 lead at the half, but WCU opened up the
second half on a 14-4 run to pull ahead by seven and hold on to the
lead for good.
The Lady Rams shot just 30% from the floor in the second half as
four WCU players scored in double digits. WCU's Dana Weems
led the Rams with 18 points, eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Stephanie Agger (N. Cape May,
NJ/ Lower Cape May) added 10 points and two steals for
PhilaU.
The Lady Rams continue non-conference action on Tuesday,
November 25th as they host Shippensburg at 6:00 p.m. in
the Gallagher Athletic Center.
