Lady Rams Lose at the Buzzer 62-60

Bloomfield, NJ- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (2-3, 0-0 CACC) fell 62-60 at the buzzer in a non-conference match-up against the Bloomfield College Deacons (2-4, 0-0 CACC) on Thursday evening.  Senior forward Amanda Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) led all scorers with 21 points and five rebounds.

The Lady Rams were slow to start, as the Deacons went on an 11-0 run in the first six minutes of play.  BC would lead by as many as 17 points in the first stanza, but A. Brennan nailed a three-pointer with 4:27 in the first half to cut the lead to just six.

At the half the Deacons were up 36-26, helped by Tiffany McDaniel's 12 points.

The Deacons opened up the second half on a 12-0 spurt, eventually building a 24 point lead- but the Lady Rams rallied.

Sophomore guard Stephanie Agger (N. Cape May, NJ/ Lower Cape May) chipped in a jumper at 15:53 to cut the lead to 20- she finished the night with 15 points, five steals and four rebounds.

Free-throw shooting proved to be clutch for PhilaU, as junior center Jess Romano went 4-4 at the charity stripe within 30 seconds to make it 56-43 with less than 10 minutes in regulation.  Romano finished with the Lady Ram's only double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds).

PhilaU continued to chip away at the Deacon's lead as junior guard Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) sunk a three at 6:47 to make it a 10 point game.

A. Brennan was fouled while taking a three-pointer at 1:05 to put PhilaU within one and Agger tied it 60-60 with a made free-throw.

With two seconds remaining, BC's Jaleesa Coleman emerged out of a tussle with the ball and the ensuing lay-up would be the Deacon's game-winner at the buzzer.

The Lady Rams return to action on Saturday, December 6th at Felician College at 1:00 pm for their CACC opener.
