Senior midfielder Allison Kessler
(Burtonsville, Md./Springbrook; shown above and below, left) has
been tabbed by the East Coast Conference (ECC) as Baden Co-Player of the Week for women's lacrosse
games played between April 21-27, 2008.
Kessler notched 14 points (8g, 6a) and eight draw controls in a
crucial 3-0 week for the Lady Rams, who remain in the
hunt for Division II postseason considerations with an 11-3
record on the 2008 season.
Last week, Kessler tallied the game-winning goal in a
24-12 win at Chestnut Hill on Wednesday,
finishing that contest with four goals and an assist. Allison
continued her excellent form over the weekend, adding a goal and
two assists in a key 11-9
win over New Haven on Saturday before closing out the stretch with
three goals and three helpers in a 14-9
win against Georgian Court on Sunday.
In other Philadelphia University women's lacrosse news, senior
Shannon Shippey (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport; shown
below, right) has now tallied 96 career goals for the Lady Rams, a
scant four shy of the century benchmark . The talented
attacker and her teammates have three games remaining in
the regular season this week.
On Wednesday, April 30, Philadelphia University hosts Dowling
College in an important ECC matchup at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday,
May 3, also at Ravenhill Field, the Lady Rams have their Senior Day
game at 12:00 noon versus Dominican College, whom Philadelphia
University defeated 19-5
in Orangeburg, N.Y. back on April 20. The final game is
scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at #1-ranked LIU-C.W. Post in
Brookville, N.Y., beginning at 1:00 p.m.
