Philadelphia, PA- Sophomore guard
Stephanie Agger (N. Cape May, NJ/ Lower Cape May)
stole the spotlight in tying her career-high of 18 points to help
the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (11-5, 6-1 CACC) to a 64-51
CACC win over the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning (5-12, 1-7 CACC)
on Thursday evening. The win extends PhilaU's streak to five
in a row, and the team has not lost in 2009.
In a contest that totaled 54 combined turnovers, GBC took the
lead for the first seven minutes of play until Agger scored a
bucket to give the Lady Rams a 7-6 go-ahead.
GBC's Evebonee Acosta tied it up 21-21 at 3:03 remaining in the
first half, but she missed a trey on the following play to give
PhilaU a chance to lead at the break. Agger scored five more
points as the clock ran down to give PhilaU a 26-23 advantage at
the half. Acosta led all scorers with 20 points on the night.
Junior guard Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/
Sterling) nailed a three at 14:51 remaining in the second half to
give her Lady Rams a 39-27 lead, as she finished with 17 points,
including three from long range.
Junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/
Hatboro-Horsham) contributed to a team 94% free-throw percentage on
the night, going a flawless 9-9 at the charity stripe as time ran
out for the Lightning. Romano finished with 13 points and 10
rebounds.
PhilaU's senior guard Amanda Brennan
(Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) added nine points including 3-3 from
beyond the arc in the victory.
The Lady Rams return to action in a CACC rivalry game on
Saturday, January 24th vs. Holy Family University at 2
p.m.
