Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
Lady Rams (11-6, 6-2 CACC) fell to conference rival Holy Family
University (16-4, 9-0 CACC) 71-56 on Saturday at the Gallagher
Center. The Lady Rams were led by senior guard Amanda
Brennan's (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) 18 points, including
three treys from three-point range. The loss broke up
PhilaU's five-game win streak that stretched back to the beginning
of the month.
Turnovers played a big role in the contest as the Lady Rams
committed 25 turnovers to HFU's 13. The maroon and gray shot
38% from the floor in the loss.
The Lady Rams led by as many as five (21-16) in the first
stanza, but HFU went on a 9-0 run midway through the first half
that gave them a 25-21 advantage. Junior center Jess
Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) sunk two foul shots
at 6:16 in the first to cut the Tiger lead to just two, but HFU's
Catherine Carr scored 18 of her game-high 22 points to keep her
team ahead. Romano finished the afternoon with 17 points and
11 rebounds.
HFU led 41-31 at the break.
A second half stalemate was broken at 17:14 on two more
free-throws by Romano, and a jumper by junior guard Kate
Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) knocked the Tiger lead
down to just six. K. Brennan had 14 points on the day.
The Tigers surged ahead by as many as 17 and PhilaU could not
respond as the final read HFU 71, PU 56.
Next up for the Lady Rams is a visit to Georgian Court
University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27th.
