Second Half Surge Powers Lady Rams to 66-62 Win at Georgian Court

Lakewood, NJ- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (12-6, 7-2 CACC) redeemed an early season loss to Georgian Court University (6-12, 2-7 CACC) with a 66-62 road win over the Lions on Tuesday evening.  Senior guard Amanda Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) had a game-high 22 points, including five of eight made three-pointers. 

The Lady Rams trailed for the entire first half, as the Lions surged out to an 18-4 lead at the 13:53 mark.  Sophomore forward Ashley Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) had eight of her 11 points in the first half, making PhilaU's final bucket of the first stanza to get her squad within three (26-23) at 1:41 remaining. 

The Lady Rams trailed 28-23 at the break. 

The second half was all maroon and gray as a layup by junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) gave the Lady Rams their first lead of the game, 34-33 at 14:52 in the second stanza.  Romano finished with 14 points and five boards on the night.

A layup by GCU's Dee Varley at 11:14 gave the Lions back a slim lead, but PhilaU's A. Brennan nailed a trey at 5:31 to tie the game 48-48 in a pivotal moment for the Lady Rams.   Junior guard Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) had five points in the final 90 seconds of the contest and her teammates made five of six free-throws in the final seconds to hold onto the 66-62 CACC win.

K. Brennan finished with nine points for the Lady Rams, while GCU's Varley also had a game-high 22 points for the Lions. 

PhilaU returns to action at home on Thursday, January 29th vs. Wilmington at 6:00 p.m. in a CACC match-up.
