Lady Rams Downed in Final Ticks 60-59 by Wilmington

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (12-7, 7-3 CACC) led for over 32 minutes but dropped a heart-breaker to the Wilmington University Wildcats (12-6, 7-2 CACC) 60-59 in the final seconds.  Senior guard Amanda Brennan led the Lady Rams with 19 points.

The Lady Rams led by as many as 11 points in the first half, as Brennan made 17 of her 19 total points in that stanza, including three treys.  Wilmington held PhilaU's leading scorer, junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) to just two first half points.  Romano finished with 11 points and a game-high 16 boards. 

PhilaU turned the ball over 24 times to WU's 13 for the game, despite winning the battle on the boards 43-19. 

A lay-up by WU's Kim Parker with one second remaining in the first half cut PhilaU's lead at halftime to 38-31.  Parker finished with a game-high 24 points.

Lady Ram sophomore forward Ashley Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) got a bucket at 9:20 in the second half to keep PhilaU up 48-47, but WU knocked down a trey to take their first lead of the game on the next play.  Gaskins finished with six points and four rebounds. 

A jumper by Romano at 7:59 tied it at 50, but the Wildcats opened the game up on a 6-0 run.  The Lady Rams responded with a 5-0 rally of their own and another layup by Gaskins gave PhilaU back the lead 59-58 with just 15 seconds remaining, but WU's Parker nailed a jumper with five seconds on the clock to win it for the Wildcats. 

The Lady Rams return to action on Saturday, January 31st vs. Post at 2 p.m. at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
