Romano Nets New Career-High in 75-71 Loss to Bloomsburg

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University (4-5, 3-0 CACC) senior center Jessica Romano's (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) new career-high 37 points would not be enough in a 75-71 non-conference loss to the Bloomsburg University Huskies (6-1, 0-0 PSAC) on Tuesday night.

The Lady Rams led at the charity-stripe 78%-BU's 63%, but trailed in several other categories most notably treys (22%-42%) and field goal shooting (43%-47%).

Four Husky players scored in double digits, led by Lauren Biczelewski's 17 points and three boards.

The Lady Rams held comfortable leads throughout the first stanza, skying to as many as 14 (28-14) on a three-ball by senior guard Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan)-her only points of the night.  She added eight assists for the maroon and gray.

PhilaU held a slight 34-31 edge at the half.

In the second half, a 40-40 tie at 17:19 was broken with a layup from BU's Biczelewski and the Huskies never looked back.  PhilaU freshman forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, PA/ Downingtown East) got the Lady Rams within one with just a minute to go on a layup, but the Huskies went 2-2 at the free-throw line to pull out the 75-71 win.  Blye had a quiet 10 points and five rebounds on the night.

PhilaU takes a holiday breather before returning to action at home on Tuesday (2/29) vs. Kutztown University at 2 p.m. at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
