women's basketball senior guard Amanda Brennan
(Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) sunk a career-high 39 points on Senior
Day to lead her Lady Ram's (16-8, 11-4 CACC) to a 114-104
triple-overtime victory over the Dominican College Chargers (14-10,
11-3 CACC) on Saturday afternoon. The game was the first
triple-overtime contest played on Herb Magee Court and the most
points scored in a single game in the program's history.
A. Brennan's 39 points included going 9-20 from beyond the
arc. The Chargers got a game-high 43 points and seven
rebounds from Althea Chambers.
Regulation saw 12 lead changes between the two teams, as DC
outshot the Lady Rams (46%-39%) for the game. PhilaU held the
rebound advantage 52-43.
PhilaU junior guard Kate Brennan (Stratford,
NJ/ Sterling) hit her only three-ball of the afternoon with four
seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 71-71 and send it
into overtime. She finished with season-high 21 points and
career-high 10 boards.
In the first overtime K. Brennan scored eight of PhilaU's 12
points, as they led by as many as six but the Chargers tied it
81-81 free-throws from Chambers. K. Brennan again scored at a
key moment- on a driving lay-up with 19 seconds remaining, but
Chambers answered with a lay-up of her own to send the game into a
second OT tied 83 all.
DC would lead by as many as four points in the second OT, but
PhilaU sophomore guard Stephanie Agger (N. Cape
May, NJ/ Lower Cape May) missed her second free-throw, and junior
center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham)
grabbed the miss and put up a bucket with five seconds remaining to
even the score at 97 a piece and go into the final OT. Romano
had 29 points and 11 boards, while Agger finished with a
career-high 19 points and a season-high seven rebounds for
PhilaU.
The Lady Rams opened up the third overtime on a 10-3 run and
PhilaU's A. Brennan went 5-5 from the charity stripe in the final
minute to secure the 114-104 home court win.
PhilaU returns to action on Tuesday, February 17th at
Chestnut Hill College at 6:00 p.m.
