Philadelphia, PA- Led by junior center
Jess Romano's (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham)
double-double effort of 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds,
the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (15-7, 10-3 CACC) upended the
Bloomfield College Deacons (12-9, 9-3 CACC) 62-45 in conference
play at the Gallagher Athletic Center Saturday afternoon.
In the first half the teams traded leads until 9:17, when the
Lady Rams began a 10-0 run that made it 19-9 on a jumper from
sophomore forward Ashley Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/
Central Dauphin). Gaskins finished with 16 points for PhilaU.
The Deacons strung together six unanswered points and cut the
Lady Ram lead to 24-18 at the half.
PhilaU junior guard Taylor Magnus (Plymouth
Meeting, PA/ Plymouth Whitemarsh) sparked the Lady Rams in the
second half, netting nine points, including two made free-throws at
1:48 remaining that would give the maroon and gray a 57-43 lead.
Both Romano and Magnus combined for a perfect 4-4 free-throw
shooting in the final minute to complete a 62-45 victory.
Next for the Lady Rams will be a home game vs. University of the
Sciences on Thursday (2/12) at 6:00 p.m.
