Clermont, FL- The PhilaU softball squad (4-5)
had a winning day down south with a 7-1 win over Franklin
Pierce University and a 3-0 shutout of St.Michael's College on
Monday.
Freshman pitcher Ali Schmidt (Cordova, MD/
Easton) led the Lady Ram charge, throwing two complete games while
striking out 19 and allowing just three hits. In game
one first FPU, freshman utility Sara Romano
(Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) had two hits and four RBIs.
Junior infielder Kristin Giamatteo (Bellmore, NY/
Wellington Mepham) added two hits and an RBI in the victory.
In the second game of the day vs. SMC, Schmidt threw a gem of a
game as she allowed just a single hit and the Lady Rams combined
for nine hits. Sophomore outfielder Jen
Richards (Millstone Twp., NJ/ Allentown) was hot at the
plate, batting 2-3 with a double and a single, while junior
pitcher/infielder Kelly Rauco (Nutley, NJ/ Nutley)
went 3-4 in the contest.
The Rams return to action tomorrow, March 17th vs. Indiana (PA)
at 9:30 a.m. and a rematch vs. SMC at 11:30 a.m.
