Clermont, FL- Freshman pitcher Ali
Schmidt (Cordova, MD/ Easton) led the Philadelphia
University softball team (7-6, 0-0 CACC) to a 3-0 shutout of
Franklin Pierce University in the Lady Ram's final game on their
Florida schedule on Thursday.
Schmidt threw a two-hitter vs. FPU, striking out 16 in seven
complete innings for the Lady Rams. The PhilaU offense banged
out seven hits, including freshman infielder Katie
Renner's (Berryville, VA/ Brunswick HS) RBI double (1-4 on
the day) and freshman utility Sara Romano's
(Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) solo homer. Romano finished
2-3 at the plate.
In the first game of the day, the Lady Rams fell 8-0 to

in that game, as they committed six errors and knocked out just two

Desmond (Bayport, NY/ St. John the Baptist) and junior
infielder Kristin Giamatteo (Bellmore,
NY/Wellington Mepham H.S) provided the only hits for PhilaU.

Absegami) took the loss.
