Rebounds the Difference-Maker as Lady Rams Fall 65-59 to Goldey

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (14-11, 12-5 CACC) saw their four-game winning streak come to a halt in a 65-59 loss to the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning (15-10, 11-6 CACC) on Tuesday evening at the Gallagher Athletic Center.  PhilaU senior center Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham), who was recognized in a pre-game ceremony for reaching the 1,000 career rebound pinnacle, led her squad with 19 points and 14 boards.

GBC's Jacinda Jones led all scorers with 25 points, along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Rebounding was a theme throughout the night, as GBC out-boarded PhilaU 56-40, proving to be a difference-maker.  Despite their win, the Lightning shot just 31% from the field.

PhilaU led by 15 at their best in the first half, 23-8 on a trey by senior guard Taylor Magnus (Plymouth Mtg., PA/ Plymouth-Whitemarsh).  The Lady Rams held a 30-22 edge at halftime.

The second half saw a quick bucket from PhilaU senior guard Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling), who was the only other Lady Ram to score in double figures with 14 points and five rebounds on the night.

The Lady Rams continued to lead until 6:17 remaining as GBC's Jones drained one of her four three-balls to give the Lightning a 54-53 edge.  It would be the visitors from that point on, as a Romano lay-up with 40 seconds remaining put her squad within four, but the Lady Rams would eventually fall 65-59.

PhilaU returns to the hardwood on Saturday (2/27) for Senior Day at the Gallagher Athletic Center in a 2 PM contest vs. Nyack College.
