Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team suffered a narrow 78-77 setback to visiting West Chester University Tuesday night at the Gallagher Center in a non-conference match-up.
Trailing 77-76 with 1:23 remaining, West Chester's Allison Hostetter, who finished with six points, six assists and 10 rebounds, hit two free throws to put the Golden Rams (1-0) in front. Philadelphia (2-1) had a trio of chances in the final minute, but couldn't get one to fall.
The game was a see-saw affair with 18 lead changes and 11 ties, 15 lead changes and seven ties occurred in the second half.
Forward Christine Wooding continued her strong start to the season with 24 points and 15 rebounds, her second consecutive double-double. Forward Kristen Blye recorded 21 points and eight rebounds. Guard Najah Jacobs came off-the-bench to score 13 points, while guard Taylor Peltzer had 12 points.
The Golden Rams received 20 points from Ambreelinne Ortman. Alex Lennon filled up the box score with 16 points, eight rebounds, six blocks and three steals. Jillian Keefer added 13 points.
West Chester controlled the glass, owning a 50-40 advantage, including a 32-14 margin on the offensive end. Philadelphia was the better shooting team by connecting on 47.3 percent (26-of-55) of its attempts, while West Chester shot at a 37.3 percent (31-of-83) clip.
After starting the season with three straight home games, the Lady Rams hit the road for three consecutive contests starting Saturday, Nov. 19 against Mercy College at 1 p.m.
