Rams Effort Not Enough in 87-70 Loss to #21 Holy Family

Philadelphia, PA- The #21 ranked Holy Family University Tigers (13-3, 10-1 CACC) put a stop to Philadelphia University's (10-8, 6-5 CACC) two-game winning streak as the Rams lost 87-70 at the Gallagher Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.

PhilaU senior forward Kate Brennan led her squad with 20 points and seven rebounds, while HFU's Catherine Carr notched 25 points and seven assists for the Tigers.

The Rams charged right out of the gate in the first half, leading by as many as 14 (29-15 at 7:46) on a jumper by Brennan.  PhilaU shot 54% from the field in that half, holding HFU to 42%.

PhilaU junior forward Christine Wooding dropped a jumper in the final seconds of the half to give PhilaU a 38-33 halftime lead.  Wooding totaled 14 points and six rebounds in the effort.

The tide turned in the direction of the Tigers in the second stanza, as a Lauren Peters trey at 17:39 put PhilaU up by just one 41-40, and an ensuing three-point play and then layup by HFU's Samantha Thompson gave her squad the lead for the first time since the opening minutes of the contest at 45-43.  Peters had 16 points, while Thompson added 11 for HFU.

HFU would lead by as many as 17 several times, finishing the night with an 87-70 win.  PhilaU shot 46% on the night, to HFU's 53%.  Ram sophomore forward Kristen Blye added 13 points 32 minutes for the maroon and gray.

PhilaU will travel to Georgian Court University for their next match, a CACC affair on Thursday (2/3) at 6 p.m.
