Wilmington, DE- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (14-11, 10-8 CACC) played tough on the road to earn an 85-81 overtime victory at the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning (14-11, 12-6 CACC) on Wednesday evening at the Jones Center.
Here is the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) playoff scenario, as of tonight:
In the South the seeds are set.
1. HFU
2. USci
3. GBC
4. PhilaU
PhilaU was led by senior guard Taylor Magnus's 17 points, and six total Rams scored in double-digits when all was said and done. GBC's Irene Hudson led all scorers with 22 points.
The Rams led for most of regulation, as PhilaU held a 32-27 edge at the half. In the second stanza, the maroon and gray received 12 points from junior guard Stephanie Agger, who tallied 16 total on the night. Sophomore forward Taylor Peltzer had the tying layup in the final seconds of regulation to send the game into OT, after GBC led by as many as five points in the final four minutes. Peltzer added 12 points in the win.
After hours, the teams matched free-throws to remain tied at 75's on PhilaU senior guard Kate Brennan's made shots. Brennan chipped in 11 points and eight boards on the night. GBC would tie it once more on a Hudson bucket, but Magnus would come up big for PhilaU with a trey at 1:29 to secure the lead for good. GBC missed a desperation three with a second to play, as it fell short and PhilaU picked up the 85-81 victory.
PhilaU will lock up the regular season in their final contest on Friday (2/25) at Nyack College before starting postseason play on Monday (2/28), on the road at Holy Family University at 7 p.m.
