Nyack, NY- Four Philadelphia University women's basketball (15-11, 11-8 CACC) starters scored in double-digits in a 76-58 road win vs. the Nyack College Warriors (10-17, 6-13 CACC) in their final regular-season game of 2011.
The Rams will open post-season play on Monday (2/28) with a visit to #17th nationally-ranked and CACC 'South' division #1 seed Holy Family University at 7 p.m.
At Nyack, the Rams were simply the better team outshooting the Warriors (44%-36%) and taking the cake at the charity stripe (86%-71%).
PhilaU was led by junior guard Stephanie Agger's 19 points, while NC's Victoria Sweet led all scorers with 24 ticks.
A Kate Brennan jumper at 16:54 in the first half gave PhilaU a 5-4 lead they would hold until past halftime. Brennan totaled 16 points and 12 boards on the night, as her squad carried a 35-27 edge into the break.
However Nyack caught up in the second period, tying it 42-42 at 15:03, but a 16-4 PhilaU run capped by junior center Christine Wooding's jumper gave the Rams a comfortable 58-46 lead they would only build upon. Wooding, who celebrated her 21st birthday tonight, contributed 16 points and six rebounds total.
In the final minutes, senior guard Taylor Magnus chipped in two points at the free throw line (of her game total 15 points) to help PhilaU secure the 76-58 victory.
