Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Guard Stephanie Agger netted a team-high 19 points became the 27th Lady Ram to score 1,000 career points; however, the Philadelphia University women's basketball fell in overtime to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Goldey-Beacom, 83-80, Thursday night in the Gallagher Center.
Agger, who needed 16 points to reach the milestone, hit a lay-up with 1:21 left in the overtime session to be Philadelphia's (14-5, 8-2 CACC) 1,000-point scorer. She joins teammate Christine Wooding, who accomplished the feat on Jan. 10, on the list.
After trading baskets to start the overtime, Goldey-Beacom (12-6, 7-4 CACC) went on a 6-0 run to grab an 81-75 lead with 1:02 left. Ashley Rosario (14 points, 11 rebounds) scored four of the six points.
The Lady Rams made a late comeback attempt when Najah Jacobs, who scored a career-high 15 points, drained a lay-up with 45 seconds left and Wooding (15 points, 10 rebounds) hit a free throw 30 seconds later to close the gap to 82-80.
The Lightning's Irene Hudson, who led everyone with 28 points, hit a final free throw with 13 seconds on the clock to provide the winning margin.
Guard Megan Finn scored 14 points in the loss for Philadelphia, who had its six-game winning streak come to an end. Goldey-Beacom's Devonne Richardson narrowly missed a triple-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists.
Philadelphia shot 44.9 percent (31-of-69) for the game, while Goldey-Beacom hit at a 42.0 percent (34-of-81) clip. The Lightning outrebounded the Lady Rams, 54-40, including a 21-8 offensive edge.
The Lady Rams trailed 71-67 with 1:48 left in regulation. Guard Taylor Peltzer (nine points, nine rebounds) cut the gap to two with a jumper at the 1:25 mark. Guard Kristen Blye (eight points) would send it to overtime tied at 71 by canning a 15-footer with 40 seconds on the clock.
Philadelphia travels to Caldwell for a CACC contest Saturday, Jan 28 at 1 p.m.
