Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team scored 12 of the game's last 18 points to snap a 67-all tie and knock off host Post University, 79-73, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon in the Drubner Center.
Philadelphia improves to 10-4 overall, including wins in three of its last four games, and 5-1 against the CACC. Post goes to 3-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Center Christine Wooding (25 points, nine rebounds), forward Kristen Blye (18 points, 11 rebounds) and guard Najah Jacobs (eight points) contributed equally during the final push, which started when Jacobs connected on a jumper at the 4:24 mark, with four points each.
Wooding—who is 26 points away from the 1,000-point plateau—pushed the lead out to six with a lay-up that made the score 75-69 with 90 seconds remaining.
Forward Taylor Peltzer added 14 points and nine rebounds, while guard Megan Finn dished out seven assists.
Aubrey Latham poured in 22 points for the host Eagles. Monique Chance recorded 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
The Lady Rams connected on 43.7 percent (31-of-71) of their attempts from the field, while the Eagles shot 37.0 percent (27-of-73). Philadelphia won the rebounding battle, 47-44.
In the first half, the Lady Rams when on a 10-2 run to open up a game-high 10-point lead at 18-8 with 12 minutes to play. Wooding scored six points, while Blye provided the other four.
Post answered with a late 14-4 run, including eight points from Latham, to take a 40-36 halftime lead.
Philadelphia travels to Georgian Court University for a CACC showdown Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. The Lady Rams won the first meeting on Dec. 6, 71-53, at the Gallagher Center.
