Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team was defeated 69-60 by visiting Millersville in a non-conference game Monday night in the Gallagher Center.
Senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) paced the Rams (3-2) with 15 points, on 7-of-12 shooting, and seven rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
Freshman forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and junior guard Samantha Morris (Wenonah, N.J./Deptford) both added 13 points.
Sophomore guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) dished out a career-high seven assists, while senior guard Taylor Peltzer (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) pulled down a season-best 10 rebounds.
Millersville (2-0) got a game-high 27 points from guard Senada Mehmedovic. Mehmedovic drained six three-pointers, four coming in the first 5:38 to help the Marauders get out to a 16-7 lead.
Trailing 64-39 with 8:48 to play, the Rams went on a 21-5 run over the next eight minutes to close the margin to nine. Blye led the charge with six points, while Morris added five. The Rams were unable to pull any closer over the final 48 seconds.
Philadelphia was the better shooting team 41.5 percent (22-of-53) to 37.3 percent (28-of-75). The Marauders shot 58.3 percent (7-of-12) at the free throw line, while the Rams hit 56.0 percent (14-of-25) of their attempts.
Millersville outrebounded Philadelphia, 48-38.
