Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Guard Najah Jacobs converted a three-point play with nine seconds left to give the Philadelphia University women's basketball team a 61-60 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Dominican (N.Y.) College Saturday afternoon on Coach Baxter Court.
Jacobs, who finished the game with 10 points, drove into the lane and hit a lay-up to tie the game at 60. After getting fouled on the play, Jacobs stepped to the line and hit her free throw attempt to put Philadelphia (19-6, 13-3 CACC) ahead.
The Chargers' (11-11, 10-5 CACC) final attempt with four seconds left, a lay-up by Lashonda Hathorne, was no good and Lady Ram guard Stephanie Agger (seven assists, five rebounds) secured the rebound and the victory.
Center Christine Wooding led all players with 22 points and eight rebounds. It was Wooding's 12th game this season with at least 20 points. Forward Kristen Blye had 14 points and six rebounds, while guard Taylor Peltzer contributed 13 points and three assists.
KC Jentzen came off-the-bench to lead the Chargers with 16 points. Bianca Harris and Lindsey Lopez both added 10 points each.
The Lady Rams outshot the Chargers 50.0 percent (22-of-44) to 38.2 percent (21-of-55) and outrebounded them 33-29. Philadelphia also overcame 17 turnovers, while Dominican turned the ball over just eight times.
Philadelphia was down 46-40 when it went on a 9-2 run, capped off with a Peltzer triple at the 8:34 mark of the second half, to take a 49-48 lead. Back-to-back Jentzen lay-ups put the Chargers ahead 52-49 with 7:10 to play.
Wooding hit one of her two free throw attempts with 1:10 to go and cut the gap to 60-58. The Chargers couldn't put the game away, missing a lay-up and the front end of a one-and-one, to set-up Jacobs' heroics.
The Lady Rams outscored the Chargers 8-0 in the final 3:22 of the first half to cut their deficit from nine to just 34-33.
