Rams handed 76-52 defeat by Goldey-Beacom

PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore guard Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy) poured in a team-high 18 points in the Philadelphia University women's basketball team's 76-52 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) southern division loss to Goldey-Beacom Wednesday night in the Gallagher Center.

Senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown E.) added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Rams (9-7, 5-4 CACC). Blye cut her magic number to enter the program's 1000-point club to 26.

The Lightning (12-8, 9-2 CACC) had four players in double-figures, led by Jacinda Jones' 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from three-point range. Irene Hudson contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Devonne Richardson fell one assist shy of a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Akilah Sewell added 10 points.

Thanks to hitting half of their first half shots (17-34), the Lightning led 42-27 at the break.  Goldey-Beacom ended the contest shooting 46.8 percent (29-of-62) from the field. The Lightning recorded 22 assists of their 29 baskets.

Philadelphia shot 30.6 (19-of-62) from the field. The Lightning outrebounded the Rams, 43-35.

The Rams continue their four-game homestand against CACC opponent Caldwell on Saturday, January 26 at 2 p.m.
