Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Freshman forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) had 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the Philadelphia University women's basketball team's 66-51 loss to Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon in the Gallagher Center.
Arnao had eight points and eight rebounds, and sophomore guard Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored 10 of her game-total 12 points in a competitive first half.
Sophomore guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) connected on a jumper at the 16:49 mark to give Philadelphia (9-8, 5-5 CACC) a 6-2 advantage.
Caldwell (9-11, 7-4 CACC) answered with nine consecutive points to move in front 11-6 with 13:35 remaining in the half.
Trailing 19-10, Philadelphia closed the gap to three on a Schacker trey and a senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown E.) three-point play. The Cougars managed to take an 11-point lead when Gillian Felix capped an 8-0 run with a basket to make the score 29-18. Philadelphia scored seven straight points to trim the gap to 29-25 with 3:32 left in the first.
Caldwell led at the break, 35-27.
In the second half, Philadelphia got as close as seven (44-37) on a Jacobs' jumper with 13:14 left in the contest. Jacobs scored 10 of her game total 13 points in the second half.
The Cougars outscored the Rams 22-7 during the next 8:14 to take a game-high 22-point lead at 66-44.
Emily Caswell poured in a game-high 27 points in the win for Caldwell. Felix added 11 points, while Torey Jones netted 10.
Caldwell shot 42.9 percent (27-of-63), while Philadelphia finished at 35.6 percent (21-of-59). The Rams won the rebounding battle, 38-37.
Philadelphia wraps up its four-game home stand against Georgian Court Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.
