Blye posts double-double in Rams' 72-50 loss to Caldwell in CACC Tournament

CALDWELL, N.J. – Senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown E.) recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the year as the Philadelphia University women's basketball team's season came to a close after a 72-50 loss to Caldwell in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Philadelphia wraps-up the season with an overall record of 14-13. Caldwell improved to 18-11 and advances to the semifinal round where it will face Goldey-Beacom on Friday, March 8.

Sophomore guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and senior guard Taylor Peltzer (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added nine points each. Freshman forward Mary Newell (Lansdale, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) scored a career-high eight points.

The Cougars had four players in double-figures, led by Marielle Duryea's 13 points. Jeanette Anderson (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Gillian Felix (10 points, 10 rebounds) both contributed a double-double.

Jacobs scored the game's opening basket at the 18:37 mark to give the Rams a 2-0 lead.

The Rams kept it close in the early stages as a lay-up by junior guard Megan Finn (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) pulled Philadelphia within three (15-12) with 11:38 left in the first half.

An Anderson lay-up at the 5:56 mark capped a 10-2 Caldwell run and gave the Cougars a double-digit lead (25-14). The margin remained in double figures for the rest of the contest.

Philadelphia shot 30.0 percent (21-of-70) in the contest, while Caldwell connected at a 39.5 percent (30-of-76) clip. The Cougars won the rebounding battle, 51-46.
