Offensive explosion helps women's basketball cruise to 95-58 win at Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team turned in its best offensive performance of the season in a 95-58 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Georgian Court Thursday night.

Philadelphia improves to 10-5 overall and stays undefeated in CACC play with an 8-0 mark. Georgian Court goes to 3-14 overall, 2-8 against the conference.

Junior guard Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored 20 points to lead the Rams' offense. She shot 7-of-13 from the field, including four made 3-pointers.

Sophomore forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied 17 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, and seven rebounds.

Sophomore forward Alex Heck (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and junior guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, in reserve roles.

Senior guard Megan Finn (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) dished out a career-high 10 assists.

The Rams shot 52.2 percent (36-of-69) from the floor and had a season-high 25 assists as they recorded their highest point total of the season. Philadelphia scored 53 points and connected on 60.5 percent (23-of-38) of its attempts in the second half.

Ashiri Broadwater turned in a 21-point, 12-rebound night to pace the Lions. Keosha Parks scored 14 points and Liz Lawler had 10 points.

Georgian Court shot 35.0 percent (21-of-60) overall.

Philadelphia, who never trailed in the contest, took its first double-digit lead of the night when Schacker drained a 3-pointer at the 12:44 mark of the first half to make the score 19-8.

Finn made four straight free throws during a brief 7-0 spurt to allow the Rams to take a first half best 17-point lead (36-19) with 3:27 left in the half.

A Heck lay-up 3:04 into the second half put Philadelphia ahead by 21 (50-29). Philadelphia took a game-high 41-point lead (90-49) on an Arnao three-point play with 3:03 to play.

The Rams outrebounded the Lions 40-36.

Philadelphia welcomes Bloomfield to the Gallagher Center for a CACC contest on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m.
