Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Ten Philadelphia University women's basketball players got their name in the scoring column as the Rams picked up an 80-49 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Chestnut Hill Saturday afternoon in the Gallagher Center.
Philadelphia—who never trailed in the contest—improves to 7-1 overall and 3-1 against the CACC. Chestnut Hill dips to 2-6 overall, 1-2 in conference play. The Rams are now 18-0 all-time against the Griffins.
It was the Rams' first 30+ point win since defeating Georgian Court 95-58 on Jan. 23, 2014.
Guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) was one of three Rams in double figures with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Jacobs hit a 3-pointer with 12:07 left in the contest to give Philadelphia a game-high 38 at 66-28.
Guard Bria Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) contributed 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks. Forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored 10 points in 14 minutes.
Led forward Mary Newell's (Lansdale, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) game-high nine rebounds, the Rams owned a 40-28 rebounding advantage. Philadelphia outscored Chestnut Hill in the paint, 42-18.
Defensively, Philadelphia forced a season-high 27 turnovers and converted them into 35 points.
Nina Mazzarelli came off the bench pace the Griffins with 13 points.
Philadelphia heads to Goldey-Beacom for a CACC contest on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m.
