Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team had its winning streak stopped at seven games after an 86-52 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss to the University of the Sciences Saturday afternoon in Bobby Morgan Arena.
Philadelphia is now 11-2 overall, 5-2 against the CACC, while USciences improves to 10-4 overall, 7-1 in conference play.
The trio of guards Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central), Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy), and Bria Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) led the Rams with 11 points each.
Forward Alex Heck (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was the team's top rebounder with seven of the team's 29 rebounds.
The Devils' Brianne Traub shot 4-of-5 from 3-point range on her way to a team-high 20 points. Laura Trisch knocked down five of her eight 3-point attempts to finish with 17 points.
USciences shot 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from 3-point range, while Philadelphia hit 42.9 percent (6-of-14) of its 3-point attempts.
Schacker drained 3-pointers on consecutive trips down the floor to pull the Rams with 14-10 at the 13:32 mark of the first half. USciences answered the two three's with a 21-5 run, which included six of Jessica Sylvester's 14 points, to move ahead 35-15 and take control of the contest.
Philadelphia will look to begin a new winning streak when it takes the court against West Chester in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
