Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team had three players score in double figures as it cruised to a 79-51 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) over visiting Georgian Court Wednesday night in the Gallagher Center.
Philadelphia moves its overall record to 13-3, and improves to 7-2 in conference play. The Rams remain perfect in the Gallagher Center at 8-0.
Senior guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) shot 9-of-17 from the floor to record a game-high 25 points. Jacobs added four assists and three steals. Senior guard Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy) contributed 16 points. Jacobs and Schacker each hit four 3-pointers.
Junior forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) racked up 11 points and 11 rebounds for her team-leading seventh double-double of the season.
The Rams got off the a great start, hitting five of their first eight shots to stake themselves to an early 12-2 lead. Jacobs posted seven of the 12 points, including the final five.
Georgian Court (1-15, 1-9 CACC) quickly got itself back into the contest with a 10-2 run a 2:01 to close the Philadelphia lead to 14-12 on a Morgan Peacock 3-pointer at the 13:54 mark.
Philadelphia reclaimed its double-digit cushion when Jacobs nailed a triple at the 9:35 mark to make the score 26-16. Anna Ozolina made a jumper in the lane to cut the Rams' lead to 26-18 with 9:00 left in the half, the final time the game would be in single digits.
The Rams ended the half with 20 of the final 26 points scored over the last nine minutes to take a 46-24 lead to the locker room. Schacker led the charge with seven points, while Arnao added five.
Jacobs made two free throws at the 11:57 mark of the second half to stake the Rams out to a game-high 66-33 lead.
Tahira Matthews led Georgian Court with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.
Philadelphia forced a season-high 31 turnovers and converted them into 33 points.
The Rams head to Bloomfield for a showdown with the defending conference champion Bears on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
