Women's Basketball Picks Up Road Win at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (2-2) got off to a hot start and made it stand up in a 70-56 victory at West Chester (2-2) on Sunday.

GAMEPLAY
The Rams held an 11-10 lead halfway through the opening quarter. They then finished the period with a 15-2 run to take a 26-12 advantage to the second. Five players scored in the rally. With the score 29-16, the Golden Rams scored six in a row to cut the deficit to seven. However, Jefferson countered with a 10-1 stretch to make it 39-23 and the score was 39-25 at halftime.

WCU had the first five points of the third to get within nine. The Rams were ahead 50-38 with 2:32 on the clock before the Golden Rams ended the frame with a 7-0 run to trail by five (50-45) entering the fourth. West Chester had the first basket in the final quarter to make it a three-point game. The margin was still three (57-54) with 4:27 to go. Then, Jefferson pulled away with a 13-2 rally down the stretch. Five players scored in the stretch and West Chester was just 1-for-11 from the field in the final minutes.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Senior Alynna Williams scored a team-high 16 points and added five rebounds.
- Junior Sabria Lytes and freshman Emily Keehfuss each tallied 12 points. Lytes grabbed seven boards and Keehfuss corralled six.
- Freshman Haley Meinel contributed with nine points and sophomore Maddie Haney had five rebounds.

AS A TEAM
- The Rams were 27-for-63 (42.9%) on field goals, 5-for-14 (35.7%) on three-pointers and 11-for-16 (68.8%) on free throws.
- Jefferson held West Chester to just 28.8% shooting (19-for-66).
- The Rams won the rebound battle, 46-39.

The Rams play their home opener against Kutztown on Tuesday, November 19 at 5 p.m.
