PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (7-10, 4-5 CACC) dropped its CACC game to Chestnut Hill (7-11, 5-3 CACC), 76-72 at the Gallagher Center on Tuesday evening.

GAMEPLAY
The Rams started strong, jumping out to a 10-3 lead with 5:18 to go in the opening quarter. Freshman Haley Meinel scored seven of the 10 points. Jefferson continued to increase its advantage during the period, leading by as much as 11 (20-9). With the score 22-12, the Griffins rallied for eight straight points to close the gap to two (22-20) with 9:35 left in the second. The Rams recovered and were able to build their cushion back to nine (41-32) with 1:49 remaining before halftime. CHC made a layup in the final minute to make the score 41-34 at the break.

In the third, the Griffins hit back-to-back threes (8:26, 7:51) to make it a one-point game (43-42). Trailing 48-42, Chestnut Hill went on an 8-0 run to take its first lead of the game at 50-48 with 4:38 on the clock. Jefferson was in front 52-50 when the Griffins had another hot streak, tallying nine points in a row to jump ahead 59-52. The score was 59-54 heading into the fourth.

CHC doubled its lead to 10 (67-57) by the 7:00 mark of the final period. The Rams came back with a 10-2 stretch to cut the deficit to two (69-67) with 3:31 to play. Junior Allie Warren drilled a three (1:37) to get Jefferson within one (71-70). However, Jefferson went cold after that, missing its next three shots as the Griffins used free throws to build a six-point advantage (76-70). Senior Alynna Williams finished a layup just before the buzzer for the final score.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Williams ended the contest with 21 points, four steals, two rebounds and two assists. She was 9-for-16 with a trio of three-pointers.
- Junior Sabria Lytes, Warren and Meinel all finished with 13 points. Lytes and Warren each grabbed seven boards with Meinel adding four assists and three steals.
- Freshman Morgan Robinson came down with five rebounds.

AS A TEAM
- The Rams made 44.3% (31-of-70) of their field goal attempts, 28.0% (7-of-25) from three, and they shot 50.0% (3-of-6) at the line.
- Jefferson committed just nine turnovers.

NOTES
- It was the third time this year that the Rams had single-digit turnovers.
