NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Dominican College and Thomas Jefferson University were picked first in their respective divisions according to the 2021-22 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Thursday by Commissioner Dan Mara. Dominican earned 65 points and seven first-place votes in the voting, while Jefferson logged 81 points and nine first-place nods. The voting for the preseason polls were conducted by the league's 13 head coaches in the sport.

Rounding out the top three teams for the North included Bloomfield College (2nd, 59 pts, 3 1st) and Post University (3rd, 50 pts, 1 1st), while the second and third place teams in the South included Goldey-Beacom College (2nd, 68 pts, 2 1st) and Wilmington University (3rd, 61 & 2).

Dominican and Bloomfield each competed during the shortened 2021 CACC men's basketball season last winter, with both qualifying for the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in Albany. Caldwell University was picked fourth in the North, while Nyack College was picked sixth. Both of those schools also competed last season, and each qualified for the NCAA regional as well. Post was the only school in the North not to compete last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jefferson did not compete last season as well, but the last time we saw the Rams they advanced to the CACC Championship Final in the 2019-20 campaign and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA regional tournament. This season will mark legendary coach Herb Magee's final season on the Jefferson bench following a distinguished career leading the school's men's hoops team. Six of the seven schools in the South Division did not compete last season, with the only school competing being Georgian Court University.

The 2021-22 men's basketball season tips off next Friday, Nov. 12, with several teams in action at various tip-off tournaments. The 2021-22 CACC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament will be conducted March 1, 5-6, with the semifinals and championship final being held at Caldwell University in New Jersey.

Dominican, the defending CACC Champion earned 64 points and seven first-place votes in the voting, while Jefferson logged 79 points and eight first-place nods. The voting for the preseason polls were conducted by the league's 13 head coaches in the sport.

Rounding out the top three teams for the North included Post University (2nd, 63 pts, 5 1st) and Caldwell University (3rd, 48 pts), while the second and third place teams in the South included University of the Sciences (2nd, 67 pts, 2 1st) and Georgian Court University (3rd, 60 & 2).

Dominican defeated Georgian Court in last winter's CACC Women's Basketball Championship Final, as both teams qualified for the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. GCU had claimed the league's regular season title. Post was the only institution from the North's six schools that did not compete last season, but two years ago the Eagles put together an impressive season by reaching the semifinals of the CACC Championship.

Jefferson did not compete last year either due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Rams are one of the top teams in the East Region on an annual basis as they have won the last two CACC tournaments they have competed in (2019 & 2020). GCU was the only South school to compete last season, as the other six elected to opt out due to the pandemic. USciences is also one of the top teams in the region, as the Devils earned an at-large bid to the NCAA regional tournament in 2020 just prior to the pandemic cancelling the tournament. USciences has qualified for the NCAA tournament in each of the past four seasons it has competed (2017-20).
