Women's Tennis Drops CACC Final To Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's tennis team (15-3) fell to Wilmington (12-0) in the CACC Championship on Sunday by a 4-2 score.
 
The top-seeded Wildcats won their second consecutive conference title over the second-seeded Rams. Wilmington also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in the spring.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats took the advantage in doubles with a 6-2 win at the second flight. However, Jefferson came back with a pair of victories to claim the point and take a 1-0 lead. Emily Frost and Charly Egger picked up a 6-4 win at third doubles then Natalie Wagner and Noelle Frenzel earned a 7-5 victory at the top spot.
 
Wilmington evened the match with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at third singles. Isla Thornicroft gave the Rams the edge once more with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the fourth position. However, the Wildcats rallied for victories at fifth, first, then second singles to clinch the title.
