NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Thomas Jefferson University's
Jess Molen was chosen the CACC Volleyball Player of the Year and was one of three Rams named to the All-CACC Team, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced on Tuesday. In addition, Rams' head coach
Latifa Raheem was tabbed the CACC Coach of the Year.
Molen is the second CACC Player of the Year in Jefferson volleyball history and the first since Celena Rendon in 2009. Molen was also a member of the All-CACC First Team.
Morgan Ritchie and
Sam Mann both earned All-CACC Second Team honors for the Rams.
Raheem is the third Jefferson head coach to be selected the CACC Volleyball Coach of the Year, joining Tim Moyer (2015, 2017) and Mark Magarity (2006).
Molen ranks second in the conference in kills (423), kills per set (4.03) and points per set (4.7), third in points (496.0), fourth in service aces (54), and eighth in digs (275) and digs per set (2.62). She has posted double-digit kills in 23 of her 28 matches and also has 13 matches with at least 10 digs. Molen has compiled a .215 hitting percentage on the year. She has been named the CACC Player of the Week twice and to the weekly honor roll six times. It is Molen's second straight All-CACC First Team nod and she was the 2021 CACC Rookie of the Year.
Ritchie sits fourth in the CACC in digs per set (2.72), sixth in digs (283), tied for sixth in points per set (3.7), eighth in kills (328) and kills per set (3.15), and ninth in points (380.0). She has 19 matches with double-digit kills and 16 with double-digit digs while recording a .242 hitting percentage. It is Ritchie's first All-CACC selection. She was chosen the CACC Player of the Week one time and to the weekly honor roll once.
Mann is tied for the conference lead with 34 solo blocks and 1.07 blocks per set on the season. She also ranks second in total blocks (108), tied for second in assisted blocks (74) and sixth in hitting percentage (.301). Mann is third on the squad with 240 kills and 321.0 points. It is her second All-CACC Second Team nod in a row. Mann was named to the CACC weekly honor roll one time.
In her fifth year at the helm, Raheem led the Rams to the CACC South Division regular season title and the number one overall seed in the conference tournament. Jefferson is 22-6 overall and finished the CACC schedule with a 15-2 mark. The Rams are one of the final four teams remaining in the conference tourney and they are ranked sixth in the East Region. Jefferson won the CACC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
