LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (7-1) picked up a 69-49 victory at Lincoln (3-4) in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams trailed 3-2 early before going on a 7-0 run to take a 9-3 lead.
Cassie Murphy scored four points and
Haley Meinel added three. However, the Lions answered with eight of the next 10 to even the score at 11 with 4:02 left in the opening quarter. Jefferson ended the period with an 8-3 stretch to take a 19-14 advantage into the second.
Morgan Robinson and
Sam Yencha each tallied four points during the run.
Lincoln began the second quarter with an 8-2 surge to go ahead 22-21. The Rams responded with 11 straight points to regain the upper hand, 32-22, with 3:52 remaining. Four different players contributed to the rally. The margin remained 10 (37-27) at halftime.
Jefferson upped its cushion to 16 (43-27) with a 6-0 start to the third quarter. The Rams held a comfortable lead throughout the frame, leading by at least 13 and by as many as 18. Jefferson took a 56-38 advantage into the final stanza, where the Rams continued to stifle the Lions. Lincoln only came within 15 as Jefferson cruised to the victory.

Cassie Murphy recorded her third career double-double while
Sam Yencha posted her sixth, and fourth of the season, with her 16 rebounds going down as a career high.
- The Rams countered a season-high 23 turnovers and a season-low two three-pointers by outrebounding the Lions, 37-32, and limiting Lincoln to 27.3% shooting. The Lions also committed 25 turnovers.
- It was Jefferson's fifth consecutive victory against Lincoln.
