PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University's
Hannibal Borg was named the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year on Monday.
Borg also was one of six student-athletes selected to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area accolades, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.
Borg is believed to be the first Ram to earn Academic All-Area honors in the sport of men's tennis. He is the second Jefferson student-athlete to be named Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for 2021-22 (Owen Bradley, Men's Cross Country).
Borg was chosen to the All-CACC First Team for the second straight season, finishing the year with a 15-2 singles record and a 13-4 doubles mark. He primarily played at third singles and second doubles. Borg helped the Rams capture their first CACC title since 2009 and earned All-Tournament honors. He competed for Jefferson in its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011.
The 2021 CACC Rookie of the Year, Borg is a three-time Dean's List honoree and he was selected the CACC Player of the Month for September 2021.
