PHILADELPHIA – The #16/12 Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (23-3, 14-1 CACC) picked up its sixth straight victory with an 82-57 triumph over Georgian Court (9-12, 7-8 CACC) on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams got out to a 6-0 lead but the Lions came back with seven of the next eight to even the score at seven apiece. Jefferson then went on a 16-6 run to go ahead by 10 (23-13) late in the first quarter.
Emma Kuczynski led the way with seven points and
Cassie Murphy contributed with six. The Rams were still in front by 10 (25-15) entering the second.
After a Jefferson layup, GCU tallied five points in a row to get within seven (27-20). However, the Rams answered with a 14-0 surge to up the margin to 21 (41-20) with 2:36 left in the first half.
Emily Keehfuss posted eight points to lead Jefferson during the run. The difference was 18 (45-27) at the intermission.
The teams went back and forth in the third quarter as neither side was able to gain momentum. The margin fluctuated between 17 and 22 during the period and the Rams carried a 65-44 advantage into the fourth. Jefferson continued to stifle the Lions in the final frame as the GCU deficit never dipped below 20.
