#13/21 Women's Basketball Battles Hard in Loss to Holy Family
PHILADELPHIA, PA - #13/21 Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (6-2) faced Holy Family University in a competitive match up on Saturday, December 7. The Rams and Tigers engaged in a closely contested match throughout, but the Tigers prevailed in the end, securing a 74-64 victory.
WHAT HAPPENED

Skyler Searfoss and Taylor Hinkle were first to put up points in the half after quickly collecting four. Cassie Murphy and Gabby Recinto also quickly scored for the Rams, tying the game at 4-4 early on. Carolyn Prevost and Hinkle are good for the next six points, but Murphy trails closely behind, tying the match up again at 12-12 after collecting six of her own. Jessica Riepe started off strong for the Tigers after making a three-point shot in the first two minutes, quickly followed by Kara Meredith, and Searfoss who also made their baskets giving Holy Family the early lead once again at 19-14. Jordyn Thomas adds two for Jefferson, but Hinkle and Prevost respond with two each holding onto their lead. Carolyn Sipprell hits a three-pointer, and Murphy sinks both free throws, bringing the Rams within close distance, trailing the Tigers 25-21. Kaci Mikulski makes another three-point shot for Jefferson, now the Rams only behind by one. Searfoss makes a basket, but Murphy is good again for both free throws, still trailing by one. Lola Ibarrondo and Meredith contributed seven points to the scoreboard as the Tigers battled to regain momentum in the second half, holding a 34-28 advantage over the Rams at halftime.

Riepe hits a three-point shot assisted by Kaelah Carter to kick off the third half. Recinto and Murphy both made their free throw shots, adding four for the Rams. Riepe, Prevost, and Hinkle made their shots to collect seven together, giving the Tigers a 46-34 lead halfway through the quarter. Sipprell is good for four points, bringing the Rams within 10. Kuczynski and Mikulski scored four for the Rams, but Hinkle and Ibarrondo combined for seven, keeping the Tigers ahead 53-42 at the end of the third quarter.

Recinto claims four of her own, starting off strong in the fourth for the Rams. Hinkle, Carter, and Prevost work to add two a piece, maintaining their 59-47 lead over Jefferson. Kuczynski and Recinto continued their strong play, each scoring to bring the Rams within eight points of the Tigers. Searfoss answers by making both free throws and converting a layup to help the Tigers hold onto their lead. Spratt scores two and Mikulski hit another three-pointer as the Rams stay in the game late. Hinkle and Searfoss made their shots at the end of the fourth to hold onto their lead and claim the 74-64 victory over the Rams.
