Robinson Eclipses 1,000 Points; Defense Delivers as #3/4 Women's Basketball Takes Win Over Goldey-Beacom
PHILADELPHIA – Looking to make their presence before the CACC Championship Tournament in less than a week, the #3/4 ranked Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (26-1, 15-0) would hold the Lightning to only four first quarter points and 19 in the first half as the Rams took a victory over Goldey-Beacom College (6-21, 5-10) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this Wednesday evening. During the contest,
Morgan Robinson reached the milestone of 1,000 points in her career.
WHAT HAPPENED
Neither team would get a score for over two and a half minutes. Jefferson responded to being scoreless with 18 straight points, as all five starters for the Rams got on the board.
Sam Yencha,
Haley Meinel, and
Cassie Murphy all made their shots while
Emma Kuczynski and Robinson hit their free throws. The Lightning earned four points in the final two minutes. Kuczynski hit a three near the end of the first quarter, cementing it to a 23-4 lead for Jefferson.
Emily Keehfuss joined in the scoring spree, hitting a three in the second quarter.
Morgan Robinson began to get on the scoring attack, ending the game with 13 points on the day.
Emily Spratt joined her teammates, making a jumper and three-pointer in the second quarter, with Jefferson going into the break up 44-19.
The Rams would score early in the third quarter as Robinson hit her layup from Kuczynski. That put Robinson over the 1,000-point milestone in her career. Goldey-Beacom began to hit on their shots in the third, Rory Ciszkowski made two three's in the period. Jefferson was not phased, answering their shots with their own baskets from beyond the arc by Keehfuss. Robinson, Murphy, and Yencha added on the boards as well to go into the fourth up 69-34.
The Rams shined in the fourth quarter, not allowing a single point for the Lightning.
Jordyn Thomas made one of her free throws alongside Yencha while Keehfuss hit another three pointer. Spratt added another basket to her point total on the night. Robinson, who already grabbed 14 rebounds, delivered a pass to the backside of the defense, seeing
Tori Nigro make a layup in the process. This put Robinson to 10 assists, reaching her second triple double of the season.
Kaya Burkhart hit a shot and another Thomas made free throw ended the game with a 83-34 victory for Jefferson.

With her 13 points on the day,
Morgan Robinson became the 39th player in Rams history to reach the 1,000 point milestone. She joins her teammates Meinel, Murphy, and Yencha. This is the first time in the teams history that four 1,000 point scorers are on the same team. As she reached that milestone, Robinson also had a triple-double for Jefferson. This is the second time she has recorded one on this season.
