Men's Soccer Puts Up Five Goals in Win Over Chestnut Hill; Will Host CACC Quarterfinals
PHILADELPHIA – With the playoffs already locked in, the Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (6-7-4, 4-2-4) had one more goal to accomplish: win their final game against cross town rival Chestnut Hill College (6-9-1, 2-6-1). The Griffins looked to upset the Rams and spoil their attempt at hosting a postseason match. Jefferson did not waste their opportunity as they tied a season-high five goals in the contest to earn a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win over Chestnut Hill in Wednesday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson and Chestnut Hill kept the contest close as only two shots were taken between both squads in the first 13 minutes. The Rams broke the tie as a corner by Sean Stackhouse was barley tipped by Tommy Harmon that eventually hit Parker Smith in the chest and rested right in front of the net. Smith capitalized, scoring the first goal at the 13:47 mark to make it 1-0
- Jefferson went to get back to back scores at the 37:03 mark and the 39th minute. Diego Guzman received a throw in by Kai Mangahas and passed it over to Gavin Dunlop who kicked the ball to the top left of the net, right out of the goalies fingertips, to score the goal
- Dunlop helped with the second goal, delivering a long pass that went right to the foot of Nicholas dos Santos, where he spiked it to the left of the net and made it 3-0 for Jefferson. The Rams would hold onto that score at the break
- At the second half, Jefferson kept their attack going with two more goals. Smith nailed his shot for his second goal on the day at the 52nd minute while Mangahas earned a goal at the 66th mark to complete the game at 5-0
- Jefferson's defense came in with authority, allowing only seven total shots with one on goal
- JR Sexton earned the win on the day, making one save for the Rams

This gave Jefferson the fourth seed heading into the CACC Championship Tournament, meaning the Rams will host their first playoff contest at Ravenhill Field since 2018.
