Jefferson Shuts Down Georgian Court in 70-31 Victory

Jefferson Shuts Down Georgian Court in 70-31 Victory

PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University (20-6, 13-2 CACC) dominated from start to finish, overpowering Georgian Court (6-21, 6-9 CACC) with a stifling defense and efficient offense in a 70-31 win at the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation, and Convocation Center on Saturday. The Rams held the Lions to just six first-half points while extending their winning streak in conference play.

WHAT HAPPENED

  • Jefferson's defense was relentless, allowing only four points in the first quarter and two in the second. By halftime, the Rams led 39-6.
  • The offense stayed sharp throughout, outscoring Georgian Court in every quarter and shooting 50% from the field.
  • The Rams capitalized on turnovers, turning 16 Georgian Court giveaways into 17 points.
  • Dominating the paint, Jefferson outscored the Lions 38-18 inside.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Emma Kuczynski: Led all scorers with 17 points (6-of-11 FG)
Sam Yencha: Controlled the boards with 11 points and 8 rebounds
Gabby Recinto: Provided a spark off the bench with 11 points and 3 rebounds

1,000 REBOUNDS
Yencha reached a milestone she was close to for months, but injuries delayed her. The past Saturday, she made it inevitable as Yencha reached 1,000 career rebounds. SHe became the sixth player to record that milestone and also the sixth Ram to have 1,000 career points and rebounds in program history (Yencha hit 1,000 points Feb. 20, 2024 against Caldwell.)

ON THE ROAD TO 1,000 POINTS
After this game, Kuczynski is just 11 points away from hitting 1,000 points. She looks to becomes the fifth Jefferson player in the past three seasons to reach that milestone (Haley Meinel in 2022, Cassie Murphy in 2023, Yencha in 2023, and Morgan Robinson in 2023).

UP NEXT
Jefferson looks to keep their winning streak going as they take on the District of Columbia on Monday, February 24, at 5.30 p.m.
