Women's Basketball Takes First Place in South; Holds Late Comeback to Win Over No.22 Holy Family on Senior Day
PHILADELPHIA – In a battle of first place for the CACC South Division, Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (22-6, 14-2) brought their A game in this faceoff of titans as they shot 53.7% on the floor and brought consistent pressure on defense that pushed the Rams to a 75-64 victory against No.22 Holy Family University (21-6, 13-3) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South action on Saturday. The Rams celebrated their seniors on Senior Day before the game.
WHAT HAPPENED

It was an even spread in the second, both squads going 14-14 in points. Murphy put up 11 of her game-leading 21 points in the first half. Murphy also recorded six rebounds in the first quarter, leading her to a double double for 11 on the day

Jefferson put it together in the third, scoring 23 points while holding Holy Family to only nine. Emma Kuczynski registered 11 of those points in the quarter, making three shots from beyond the arc. Emily Spratt, Tori Nigro, Carolyn Sipprell, and Sam Yencha all had a basket alongside Kuczynski and Murphy in those 10 minutes as they lead by 20 points heading into the fourth

The Tigers put together the best scoring quarter of the game, adding 28 points during that time. Holy Family got as close as nine points, but the Rams held strong as Gabby Recinto and Murphy had six points apiece in the final quarter while Spratt, Yencha, and Nigro all got on the scoreboard to take the upset victory 75-64

As the #1 seed in the South Division, Jefferson will welcome #4 North Division Felician University on Tuesday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. These two teams met on January 11, where the Rams held onto a 59-56 nailbitter against the Golden Falcons.
