Murphy Named PhllySIDA All-Academic Performer of the Year

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball senior Cassie Murphy was named the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Women's Basketball Performer of the Year. This is the second straight year a Ram has earned this award (Sam Yencha took the honors last season).

To be selected for the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area women's basketball team a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically, a starter or significant reserve on their institution's women's basketball team and have a grade point average of 3.30 or higher. Sports information offices from the 30 institutions in the Philadelphia area nominate and vote on the team.

A four-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference honoree, Murphy was named as a first-team honoree in 2024-25 and the CACC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. She helped lead the Rams to their second consecutive CACC Tournament championship game appearance and the team's sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.  Murphy was also named to the D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-East Region First Team this past season.

Murphy concluded her career as the Rams' sixth-leading scorer in program history with 1,835 career points.

The senior forward is a two-time recipient of the CACC's Top XVII Award, given to the student athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the conference tournament championship finals site, earning the award in 2023 and 2024. Murphy has also been named to the CACC All-Academic Team three times (2021-24) and the CACC Academic Honor roll in every semester since the award's inception in the Fall of 2023.
