Hines, Rams, Serve Up 20th Win of 2026

Jefferson extended its winning streak to eight matches

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 24, 2026) – Sophomore libero Kate Hines (Newark, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) delivered six service aces and a match-high 33 digs to help the Thomas Jefferson University women's volleyball team earn its 20th victory Saturday afternoon against the University of Bridgeport on Herb Magee Court.

It's the first time the Rams have hit the 20-win milestone since the 2022 season when the won 24 and finished 15-2 in CACC play. Jefferson has also won eight in a row dating back to the Monroe University game towards the start of October.

Hines headlined a collective 14-ace effort behind arguably her best all-around performance of the season, with sophomore Abby Schessler (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) and junior Alexa Mork (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester East) contributing three apiece. The Rams' effectiveness at the service line proved especially valuable in the pivotal third set. With the score tied at 23 with both teams owning one set apiece, Hines set up sophomore Alexa Pomeroy (Eastvale, Calif. / Pomona Catholic) for a kill to bring Jefferson to set point, then supplied the finishing ace. The Rams carried that momentum into the fourth, opening with a 6-1 lead and finishing with 18 kills. Mork then delivered the final strike to seal the match.

Mork, along with senior Emily McKenna (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Sacred Heart Academy) each finished with 12 kills, adding 14 and 17 digs, respectively. Freshman setter Lyllah Sapp (Bakersfield, Calif. / Frontier) joined them with a double-double, distributing 46 assists and collecting 12 digs (her ninth of the season).

Junior Pemi Areola (Kingwood, Texas / Kingwood) gave Jefferson efficient production through the middle, recording 11 kills on .417 hitting and six assisted blocks. Fellow junior Liz Tanis (Abington, Pa. / Abington) added 10 kills, while Pomeroy supplied nine to round out another balanced offensive performance.

Head Coach Eric Schaefer and the Rams will look for nine in a row on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when they host Chestnut Hill College for the annual Dig Pink game at 6 p.m. Jefferson will then travel to Shippensburg University on Wednesday before returning home to face Holy Family University on Saturday for Senior Day.
